Character Information
General
Canon Source: Les Miserables. Mostly the musical, but with a few elements from the novel to fill in the background information that was left ambiguous in the musical (i.e. he lived with his grandfather, moved to live in Paris to go to university instead of having a disagreement, etc.)
Canon Format: Book and Musical
Character's Name: Marius Pontmercy
Character's Age: Twenty
What form will your character's NV take? A flat little device that looks a bit like a touch phone. It’s small enough to fit in his pocket and easy enough for someone from the 18th century to operate.
Abilities
Character's Canon Abilities: None, really, apart from being able to speak and translate English and German. He also knows a smattering of Latin.
Conditional: It's not secret that Marius is more than a little dense at times, so his power is something of a mental block. Telepathic powers won't work on him at all, only high-level telepaths will be able to get through and read his mind. Empaths won't be able to read his emotions. Basically, he's a dead zone to anyone who tries to read his thoughts and emotions in an unnatural way.
Weapons: N/A.
History/Personality/Plans/etc.
Character History:
Wiki link!
Point in Canon: Before Marius entered Londonium and then continued onto Siren’s Port, he was at the barricades, fighting for a Republic for France. Eponine had just died in his arms and revealed that she loved him, which left him visibly shaken. However, his mind had to focus on the battle to avoid sharing her fate. A man, a volunteer, had just arrived but Marius had no idea this was the father of Cosette, the girl he loved. The first attack of the National Guard was in progress when he was pulled.
As for in Londonium, Marius had simply been trying to go about his daily business and keep his mind off Eponine and whether or not she was safe when he was taken to Siren’s Port.
Here are all of his threads:
Marius' arrival
Marius and Eponine go shopping
Marius is a dumbass and tells Eponine about her death
Marius tries to apologize and fails dismally
Marius talks to Remus about his mistake
Conditional: Brief summary of previous RP history: (From Quantum Slide) Marius wasn't in Londonium for long but his time there was certainly influential. He and Eponine lived in her apartment for a short amount of time. That eventually broke down due to Marius revealing Eponine’s death to her. She ran away, and he tried to go on without his best friend and only link to home. Shortly after that, he entered Siren’s Port. Note: The Eponine mun here is the same Eponine mun I plotted with in Quantum Slide, and she’s already given me the okay to import Marius from there with all of his memories of her.
Character Personality: Marius is, first and foremost, a very driven individual. His emotions are rarely concealed, and he basically wears his heart on his sleeve. This can, at times, lead to him being somewhat impulsive in his decision-making, which more often than not, leads to trouble. Marius has a rather bad habit of leaping head on into things without truly considering the consequences.
He's also somewhat oblivious, preferring to see what he wants to see, rather than what's right in front of him. Numerous things have passed rather obviously right under his nose without him realizing it. He's also rather shy and awkward around other people, particularly women. Actually, women intimidate him. Marius gets flustered very easily, and it's not hard to make him blush or begin to stammer, if one knows what to do.
Marius is very much a dreamer with his head in the clouds. Passionate is a good word to describe him, and this passion mingled with the aforementioned impulsiveness often get him into place where he doesn't want to be. He is definitely a hopeless romantic and has many of the ideals of a man of his time. He is terribly naïve when it comes to romance, and any mention of even the most innocent of affection will set him to blushing. Never mind what comes when one mentions other things. He grew up very sheltered, and for that reason, he views the world as much more forgiving than it truly is.
Generally, Marius is very serious, and takes himself seriously. He has quite a bit of pride in himself, and it’s quite easy to wound that pride. Should that happen, he will withdraw and brood for a little while. After that, he’ll make a point to avoid anyone who wounds him in such a way. Marius can brood like nobody’s business, but he also has times of happiness as well.
Conditional: Personality development in previous game: Marius has learned his lesson. Revealing the future to people who have no idea of what’s going to happen is a bad idea, so he definitely won’t be doing that again, even if he feels it is best. Apart from that, he’s not much changed.
Character Plans: I’m open to anything and everything! Marius has a canonmate here, but I’m totally open to everyone else plotting with him. He’d probably avoid the underworld as much as he can, though. He’s not really suited for that sort of thing at all.
Appearance/PB: Eddie Redmayne, who will be portraying Marius in the upcoming film. See my icons.

First Person Sample
[Communication devices aren’t strange to Marius anymore. He’s used one before in Londonium, and he’s feeling a strange sense of déjà vu as he looks into the screen. While he’s trying to appear calm, it’s clear the signs have freaked him the hell out.]
Ah…hello? Would someone care to tell me where I am?
[Marius is clearly scared and disoriented, but he’s trying to keep his cool. The journey to Siren’s Port has been a lot worse than the one to Londonium. Still, he takes a deep breath and continues on.]
This place is unfamiliar to me, and I am not entirely sure where to go. If there is anyone out there at all, any help you can give me would be appreciated.
[Shelter is the first thing he's worried about. The sun is already low enough in the sky to worry him, and Marius isn't accustomed to staying out on the streets. Then there is food and clothing to worry about...Marius had already made enough of a life to get by in Londonium, would he be able to do it again in this place?]
Third Person Sample
The building Marius has been told to go to is rather crowded, which isn't quite helping his nerves. It seems to be a bit like Londonium, in that there are people from all sorts of places pulled into another. How many others are there, he wondered, out wherever this may be.
He doesn't have too much time to wonder however. People are beginning to crowd inside, for the sun is beginning to set. Marius isn't sure what happens here at night, but whatever it is isn't good.
With the shouts to keeping moving behind him, Marius maneuvers rather awkwardly through the crowd, eyes to the ground and hastily apologizing to anyone he touches. Crowds are common in the streets of Paris, but never ones as frantic as this.
Questions have to wait, perhaps until Marius had used his device to attempt to contact the other people living in this place. Hopefully, they would be as ready to help as the people had been in Londonium, and perhaps he hopes just a little that someone, anyone he knows might be in this place.
There most likely wouldn't going to be anyone from around his era though, he thinks, looking around at the other people. They're all wearing the modern clothing that Marius has seen before in Londonium.
Jostled forward by the crowd, he receives a key to one of the apartments, and is just as quickly pushed aside. Marius can see other people arriving as well. What happens to those that arrived at night?
Never mind that, Marius focuses back on what was going on with himself. Other people, at the moment, are less of a concern. Here he is, lost again in a new place. He sighs, running a hand through his hair. Perhaps it would have been better if he had gone back to Paris to die.
Cosette is gone, Eponine's life has been ruined further by him, and it is entirely possible that all of those he considered friends in Paris were dead. Any friends he might have had in Londonium are gone as well, unless they were bought here as well.
But, life had decided to throw him in this place, and therefore he must keep going. With that thought in mind, he begins the journey up to his apartment.
