CHARACTER
NAME: Marius Pontmercy
AGE: 20
CANON: Les Misèrables
CANON TYPE: eg. Book/Musical
BACKGROUND:
Wiki link!
CANON POINT: Marius is being taken from just before he was injured at the barricades.
WORLD INFORMATION: Marius lives in 19th century Paris, France. It is entirely similar to our world, with no noticeable differences apart from the time. Currently, he is a student of law, and translates books to earn extra money. Though he is a Baron, he is very poor.
PERSONALITY:
Marius is, first and foremost, a very driven individual. His emotions are rarely concealed, and he basically wears his heart on his sleeve. This can, at times, lead to him being somewhat impulsive in his decision-making, which more often than not, leads to trouble. Marius has a rather bad habit of leaping head on into things without truly considering the consequences.
He's also somewhat oblivious at times, prefering to see what he wants to see, rather than what's right in front of him. Numerous things have passed rather obviously right under his nose without him realizing it. He's also rather shy and awkward around other people, particularly women. Marius gets flustered very easily, and it's not hard to make him blush or begin to stammer, if one knows what to do.
Marius is very much a dreamer with his head in the clouds. Passionate is a good word to describe him, and this passion mingled with the aforementioned impulsiveness often get him into place where he doesn't want to be. He is definitely a hopeless romantic.
CONDITIONAL - SUMMARY OF PREVIOUS RP DEVELOPMENT: N/A!
POWERS / ABILITIES:
Growing up in an upperclass household, there were definitely certain things Marius was required to know. Due to his education, he’s fluent in Latin and, his native language, French, and due to his job, he can also speak German and English, though he is better with writing that than speaking it.
Marius has a basic understanding of literature, but only that of his own time period, and can write and read with ease, unlike some others of his time. Before being pulled from his world, Marius was a student at a univeryisty and was studying law, so he has quite a good understanding of such things.
As for weaknesses, Marius is indeed human. He can be shot, stabbed, strangled and otherwise killed in every nasty way a human being can be. He's also rather impulsive and driven by his emotions, leading him to often make decisions before really thinking them thought, which leads more often than not to trouble.
SAMPLES
FIRST PERSON:
[And there's a rather confused young man onscreen, in the process of poking at the device a little. Clearly, Marius has no idea how to work it, or even any idea that it's turned on.] What is this...? [The screen goes dark for a moment, as if someone has put their hand over the camera and then reveals what looks like a park.] Hello? Is someone there? [He appears to have figured it out a little bit now, but is holding the camera upside-down] Could someone tell me where I am? This...place isn't Paris, is it?
THIRD PERSON:
The people walking around, for one, were a rather ecletic bunch, some of them (particularly females) wearing clothing indecent enough to make Marius instantly avert his eyes, blushing furiously. How he had gotten to this strange place from the barricades was a complete mystery...there had been a loud gunshot and he'd completely blacked out, only to wake up on the soft grass of the park.
Well...there had to be someone around here with answers. If only Marius could work up the courage to ask.
The pack that had been presented to him a few minutes ago was still in his hand, and Marius decided to look through it. Perhaps there was something useful inside. Money (good, at least he wouldn't starve), a small shard of something flat and hard with writing on it, and a small black box came up. He'd been informed there was something that would allow him to talk to others, and the last thing must be it.
After a moment of fiddling with the buttons, Marius had managed to make a small square of it light up. Did that mean it was working? Well...he supposed there was only one way to find out. "H...hello?" he spoke hesitantly into the box, feeling rather foolish indeed. How on Earth was this little box supposed to allow him to speak with other people?
Still, he decided to trust what the man had said. Perhaps he was right.

THIRD PERSON:
He'd never seen a place like this before in his life. After standing and brushing dirt off of his coat and pants, the first thing Marius had done was look around. At a glance, the park could easily be mistaken for the Luxembourg gardens, but once one took a closer look, there were glaring differences.
The people walking around, for one, were a rather ecletic bunch, some of them (particularly females) wearing clothing indecent enough to make Marius instantly avert his eyes, blushing furiously. Until then and after that, he would have to think of a way to return home. For, certainly, there had to be some way. He wasn't about to abandon his friends on their cause, and perhaps there was some way for he and Cosette to be together. There had to be. Nothing stood in the way of love, after all!
